full sun and in shade in a number of localities in the Durban
area.

histrix is a dwarf stem succulent which is heavily exploited for
traditional medicine by the Zulu people of Kwa Zulu Natal.

Huernia
histrix reproduce naturally by
means of seed which germinates readily under ideal
conditions. In cultivation they can
be propagated vegetatively by subdivision, by tissue culture as well as from seed.

plants are being grown for their very attractive growth form as well as

aegyptius . Their flowers

large numbers of flies.
